Preview a style on your selected text before applying it in After Effects.

Text Animator is a blinkl.io extension for After Effects with 26 built-in styles for text animation and decoration. Choose a reveal, word pop, color accent or hand-drawn highlight.

Select your text layers and adjust timing, speed, energy, flow and direction where supported. Use character or word modes to shape how the text appears.

Click Apply to add the effect in After Effects. Text animations stay editable on the original layer; decorations and cursor effects may create extra layers.

Save your settings as named presets, import or export them, and assign a preset to the Ring to apply it directly to selected text.

FAQ

Know what happens in your composition.

Which Adobe app does Text Animator support?
Text Animator is designed for After Effects. Open a composition containing text layers before choosing your targets.
Will my text stay editable?
Text animations are applied to the original text layer using native After Effects animators and selectors. The text is not split into one layer per character or word. Decorations and cursor styles can add companion shape or text layers.
Does the panel preview change my composition?
Choosing a built-in style and changing panel settings updates the preview. Use Apply to write those settings into After Effects. Saved presets and Ring actions are direct apply actions.
Can I animate by character or by word?
Yes, when the selected style supports that choice. Auto uses the style’s default unit. Some styles keep a fixed unit, so the available controls depend on the style.
Can I apply a style to several text layers?
Yes. Use the After Effects selection, or fetch text layers at the playhead, in the work area or across the whole composition and check the targets you want. Each target is processed using its own text and layer timing.
Can I combine motion with a decoration?
Yes. Choose an animation and a decoration, then apply the combination. Word selectors can target a range, the first word, the last word or the longest word. Decorations are built as additional keyframed shape layers.
What does Exact stagger change?
Exact stagger specifies the delay between text units in frames and overrides Flow. The timing is fitted to the target layer’s duration and may be compressed if the layer is too short.
Can I reuse or share my presets?
Save a named preset containing the selected animation, decoration, phase and settings. Presets can be exported and imported as .preset files, and saved presets can be assigned to the Ring.
Is the panel preview an After Effects render?
No. The panel previews your text using the shared timing calculations. It is not a render of the composition, and font rendering or effect details can differ. Check the applied result in After Effects.
How do I remove Text Animator effects?
Select No animation or No decoration and apply to clear the corresponding effect on your targets. Remove all Text Animator animations removes its generated animators, cursors and decorations across the composition. Use After Effects Undo when you need to restore the previous state.
